Mommy, cut yourself some slack.

“In moments of complete exhaustion and frustration, I want to remember that I am a work in progress and so are my children. God uses the imperfections of our growing girls to shine a light on our ongoing need for His grace in our lives.”
-She is yours by Jonathan and Wynter Pitts
•There’s something freeing in this statement.
•Ladies, we aren’t always going to get it right. We aren’t always going to have the right attitude or tone. There will be days that you are reminded that you have failed. Maybe by a blog you read or a word spoken to you. REMEMBER, we are a work in progress and so are our children. If every parenting moment was perfect, then we would have no need for God. I fail a lot as a mother and as a person. I don’t always say the right things, I don’t always do the right things and I huff and puff just like my little ones. Adult tantrums is a thing, right? The one thing that brings me peace today after feeling like, “Dang. I suck.”, is that God’s Grace for me is serious. Like, for real, serious. He uses gentle reminders that I need Him. I need Him to help me be the version of Stacy HE created me to be. I see my flaws and so does HE. Yet, HE doesn’t dangle them in my face to make me feel worse. HE allows light to shine on them so it can come out of the dark place
I chose a while ago to ask my kids for forgiveness whenever I feel like I’ve failed them. I will tell them, “Mommy is sorry for the way I acted towards you” or “Please forgive my actions today.”
Do you know what? Every time. And I mean EVERY-TIME, I get on my knees and look at my girls and ask for forgiveness, they come back with the same response.
“Oh mommy, no. You are the best mommy ever. I forgive you.”
That is God’s love for me wrapped up in a little child.
Choose to not live in guilt today. Live in freedom. God brings to light the dark things in your life, in order to bring out the version of you HE created you to be.
Show your children that BECAUSE we aren’t perfect and because we need saving, WE NEED JESUS! He’s working on me!
