*Maybe our own insecurities cause the pain that we think other people are causing.
What if we lived not feeling bad for ourselves, but in the freedom of knowing who we really are and who God really is?
1 Peter 2:9: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
“No one likes me.”
“Everyone is against me.”
“Are they talking about me?”
“Maybe those people really don’t want me around.”
“I just won’t go. No one really wants me there.”
“What if they don’t want me in their group?”
“They’re so mean.”
“They don’t know where I’ve been. They won’t understand.”
“Why don’t they ever invite me out?”
“She never says hi to me.”
“She’s a hypocrite.”
“She never smiles at me.”
“They’re missing out on a great friendship with me. Their loss.”
“She looked at me wrong. She must hate me.”
“She’s such a bully.”
“She did this.”
“She did that.”
“I’m just not going to go and hang with them”.

Sometimes these thoughts rear their ugly heads when our insecurities start showing off.
My daughters love climbing trees. They didn’t always like doing it. At first they were scared and would tell me they couldn’t do it. “It’s too scary, Mommy”, they would say. My response to them would immediately shift that fear. “You can do it. I know you can!”. My girls would hear their mother, with confidence say, “You got this!” and they believed me. Fully believed in what I was saying to them and what I was saying about them. And because they believed, they conquered their fear of climbing trees. On warm days, you’ll see my girls swinging from trees. Smiling. And on occasion, they will get stuck. 😁
The same way a child believes everything that comes out of their mommy’s mouth, is the same childlike faith we are to have when it comes to what God says about us.
Baggage and past hurt cause insecurities. It’s a struggle sometimes for people.
Let go of the baggage today. Challenge yourself to walk and think in the truth.
